Downloading Amharic Language Fonts
Amharic is an ancient language used in Ethiopia dating back to at least the 6th century B.C. It is the country’s working language and the second most commonly spoken Semitic language in the world. If you’re looking to write and read documents in Amharic, you’ll need to download appropriate language fonts.
Where to Find Fonts
There are a variety of online sources where you can find Amharic language fonts including:
- EthiopiaWeb: EthiopiaWeb provides a wide range of fonts in both TrueType and Postscript formats.
- Fontifier: Fontifier allows you to use your own handwriting to create TrueType fonts.
- URW++: URW++ provides a range of commercial fonts in a variety of languages.
- Apple: Apple provides an extensive selection of fonts in many languages including Amharic.
Downloading the Font
Once you’ve found a font that you want to use, you can download it to your hard drive. Different sources will provide different options for downloading the fonts, so read carefully before clicking the download button. You may need to select a download format such as TrueType or PostScript and make sure you choose the correct version of the font for your computer’s operating system.
When the download is complete, you should save the file in a folder where you can find it easily such as the Desktop or Downloads folder.
Installing the Font
