How to Embed Fonts in Word
Microsoft Word allows you to customize your documents with a wide array of fonts. To ensure that a document will look the same on different computers, fonts must be embedded in the file before sending it to other users. Embedding fonts ensures that all text looks the same no matter what computer it is opened on.
Instructions
- Open your Word document.
Before you can embed fonts, you will first need to open the Word document that you want to embed fonts in.
- Select the Fonts option from the File menu in Microsoft Word.
From the File menu, select Options and then select Save from the left-hand side of the window.
- Check the Embed fonts box.
Under the Preserve fidelity when sharing this document section click the Embed fonts in the file checkbox.
- Save the document.
Once the fonts have been embedded in the document, you can save the document and the fonts should now be embedded in the file.
Tips
- You can also embed fonts from the Save As dialog window.
- Certain fonts cannot be embedded because of copyright or other restrictions.
- When embedding fonts, make sure to check the “Embed only the characters used in the document” checkbox.
